Hi! I'm John

My flower farming journey began at 17 during my first year of agricultural college. With most of our family farm rented out for dairy, I would spend the breaks trying to find a way to use the land for ourselves. One day I came across an article about tulip farming in Holland, and the idea stuck; That same year I planted 1,750 tulips.

In April 2018 those tulips bloomed, so my morning routine transformed into early tulip picking before the college bus at 7am. I still remember my mum's texts telling me I’d sold my first five bunches. I was in college and I thought I’d struck gold... Little did I know!

From there, my curiosity grew, and so did my love for flowers and nature. It’s been nearly eight years since I planted that half-acre of tulips, and the flower farm has grown to 3.5 acres, now with an establishing foliage field.

Along the way, The Business of Flowers scholarship and the mentorship from Carol Siddorn and Sarah Statham have been invaluable, helping me grow both as a farmer and business owner.

Thank you all for following and supporting this journey—it means a lot :)

My philosophy

on the farm.

In today’s world, where consumerism often leads to waste and environmental harm, I believe it’s essential to rethink how we interact with nature and our role in preserving it. Growing flowers it’s not only about respecting nature, but about making it into a dialogue, understanding and nurturing the entire ecosystem.

Every flower, insect, and bird plays a role in maintaining the balance, and I’m committed to supporting this delicate chain. By avoiding harmful chemicals and promoting biodiversity, I ensure that my farming practices protect the soil, support pollinators, and provide habitats for wildlife. Learning from nature is a daily practice. It teaches patience, adaptability, and resilience—values I strive to reflect in my work.

By embracing these lessons I like to think I’m not only growing flowers but I’m cultivating a deeper connection to the land and fostering a sustainable future for our community.
